These include banning public sector organisations/critical national infrastructure such as schools, local government authorities and NHS from paying ransoms, and requiring other organisations to inform the government before making any payment. Mandatory reporting of ransomware incidents is being developed, helping build intelligence, improve responses and aid in hunting down threat actors. The proposals aim to disrupt criminal operations, reduce financial incentives for malicious actors and increase transparency across sectors.
