Six leading German textile associations have joined forces to develop a unified approach to the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system for textiles, a promising step toward a more sustainable and circular future for the industry.
In their joint declaration, the associations outline six key focus areas for the future framework:
A well-organised and transparent system
Clear legislative responsibilities
Strong market surveillance
Environmental objectives and eco-modulation
Effective consumer communication
Robust collection and recycling infrastructure
This collaborative initiative demonstrates growing momentum across the textile sector to align on sustainability goals and take shared responsibility for reducing environmental impact.
At Intertek, we support organisations on their path toward sustainable compliance and circularity, from verifying supply chain transparency to testing and certifying recycled materials.
