Made in the USA

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to label a product “Made in USA” all or virtually all of the product must be made in the United States. The "all or virtually all" standard requires three things:

  1. Final assembly or processing must occur in the United States
  2. All significant processing must take place in the United States
  3. All or virtually all ingredients or components must be made and sourced in the United States

Companies that mislabel their products could face a large fine and legal action. For this reason, companies should verify compliance carefully before making unqualified "Made in USA" claims. Intertek offers a range of traceability solutions applicable to products made in the USA and within global supply chains that companies may consider when wishing to market products as “Made in the USA”: Traceability Assurance.

Surveys show Americans love American-made products. Problem is, that “Made in USA” tag might not always be accurate.
