NRCan Funding Available for ISO 50001 in Commercial and Institutional Buildings

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is now accepting applications for financial assistance to implement the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard in commercial and institutional buildings. The call for proposals runs September 15 – October 31, 2025, with funding for projects from April 2026 to March 2029.

Eligible organizations can receive up to $40,000 per building (60% for for-profits, 75% for not-for-profits) to support ISO 50001 compliance or certification, covering costs such as training, professional services, benchmarking tools, and energy monitoring equipment.

The following types of projects may be eligible for financial assistance: ISO 50001 Compliance – Includes implementing an energy management system in accordance with all the requirements of the ISO 50001 standard.
