Good news for climate change

Yes you heard it right, some good news for 2020 . At the UN General Assembly last week the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, announced that China would cut emissions to net zero by 2060.

This is extremely good news since China is now the number one polluter nation on earth - responsible for around 28% of global greenhouse gas emissions.  The news also comes on the heels of the European Union's 2030 climate targets and commitment towards a green stimulus package.

Let's hope this is a sign of more positive things to come in the race to fight climate change and more nations will ramp up their efforts to keep the global temperature rise well below 2 degrees of pre-industrial levels, as agreed in the Paris Agreement.
