The UK Government has unveiled a new Cyber Action Plan, backed by over £210 million, to enhance the protection of, and build resilience in, digital public services as cyber threats rise. The plan introduces a Government Cyber Unit to strengthen oversight of cyber risks, enhance coordination across departments, and improve responses to incidents. It supports the continued digital transformation of public services, with the aim of keeping essential services such as healthcare and benefits secure and dependable. Key points include a more joined-up, government-wide approach to cyber security, increased collaboration with industry through the Software Security Ambassador Scheme, and clearer cyber security expectations for organisations providing public services, alongside the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill.
