It´s been a while that the regulation on deforestation-free products entered into force, to be precise on June 29th 2023. And yes the various stakeholders, operators and traders do have up to 18 months to implement the new rules.
Unfortunately it looks as if this period is being understood as a “wait and see”, as if many companies hope that the authorities will refrain from strict controls and sanctions if countries/ regions or individual companies do not comply.
December 30, 2024 is approaching faster than we may think and doing nothing and waiting is not an option so have a look at the official site of the European Commission regarding EUDR to begin preparing.
