Desalination "powered" by renewable energy

A good example of using renewable energy sources to "produce" much needed resources, in this case fresh water can be found in Morrocco.

A project has been initiated by RES4Africa Foundation focusing on energy sources such as wind, solar, geothermal and others instead of fossil based fuels creating a win-win-win situation. A) the cost of energy used is less B) climate is being affected less and C) additional fresh water is being produced in a region where availability of water has been on the decline for years.

Knowing that the technology is expected to cover 14% of the world´s water needs by 2050, this could pose a climate and environmental risk if no proper actions are taken.
