I almost fell over when i read the size of this $777 million dollar fine. A staggering amount to a company of any value. This is a warning and growing risk to any board room or investor community that not having effective visibility and traceability into supply chains or embedded and functioning governance frameworks poses significant financial and liability risks.
Current and emerging HREDD (Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence) legislation will result in many more of these types of fines. Far more cost effective to invest in Environmental, Social and Governance frameworks than receive fines of this size.
